I have been tagged by my blogging friend Darbi to tell 5 wierd things about myself. Hmmmm...Everything I do seems normal to me. So I asked my husband...NEVER, and I mean NEVER ask your husband for 5 wierd things about yourself! He was trying not to burst out laughing and said "Just five?" and then burst out laughing and walked away not wanting to touch the subject. So, I'm winging it!
1. The first time I ever saw snow was when I was 16. I grew up in Miami, Florida and didn't even see changing seasons till I was 17 when I moved to Colorado. I remember looking at the Sears & Robuck Catalog for Christmas as a child and wanting a sled and a snow suit every year and ya know, I never got one! Go figure!
2. I like to drink hot water. Comes from my days teaching in China. At the schools they have a wall with rows of spigots you walk up to with boiling hot water coming right out of it. Behind the wall are the big campus boilers. It is one way of knowing it is safe to drink. I don't think you could do that in the USA with Child safty laws.
3. I can't get rid of anything. My husband does not get this. I only bring things into my house that I like, so why would I get rid of it. What's not to understand!
4. I'm not a big fan of chocolate! Now licorice is another story!
5. I don't get sports. I have been trying to understand football for over 40 years but I just don't get it. It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. And I really don't get it from an eternal perspective. So much time and money wasted on a ball being thrown around with people ready to rip the other guys head off..for what?
OK there you have 5 things. Weird or not they seem normal to me!
Now I tag 5 more, I tag Amy P., Jen W., Stephanie S., Katie B., and Angel.
Sorry for the absense of posts but it was a hard couple of weeks. We were dealing with "Cheating". Mercy discovered "The Teacher Manuels". Suddenly she started getting 100%'s on her math. We let her continue for a week and then put a note in the manuel that said "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, TEACH a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime. Mercy, If you continue to cheat, you will always just eat for a day. If you want to be a doctor, you must learn to fish for a lifetime. The choice is yours." She would not confess but hasn't been cheating anymore. She had me to pray with her because "her heart was heavy" she said. I know the Lord is working in her heart. She has a sweet, sweet spirit, BUT she is street smart, I now lock up the curriculum cabinet!
I will post soon as we may be coming closer to a decision on surgeries for the girls. Stay tuned!!!
Just an FYI...Mercy has now gained 22lbs since she came here on December 10th!

Hey weirdo. . .just kidding! Those aren't that weird. I think your idea to put the note in for Mercy was a great way to get to her heart. You will see an eternal glory for the work you are doing with your sweet daughters.
Love ya,
Bran
Hey have you been to my blog- I tagged you awhile ago!!!! ha
the only thing weird about you is not getting football. What is not to get when it comes to the Packers.
Your leaving the note in the manual was both brilliant and compassionate - I imagine that you will have to continually be on your mental "toes" -- the cultural divide is deep. Someone once quoted that we can't unknow what we know, but we certainly can't know what we have no understanding of. As to tagging - glad I don't have a blog, love from big seester ddc
Tama,
What an amazing way to deal with something like this. I may need to give you a call because I cannot get through to Fatu about lying! I've tried many things and still not much fruit.
Oh, I am a licorice lover as well! Red Vines for me though!!!
Love ya
Katie B.
I so don't get the football thing or any other professional sport for that matter. I'm with you sister, what IS the point?
Now, as far as pitching stuff, you know I'm good at that :o)
Overall, I'd say, not too weird.
Missy
Tama I totally pegged you for someone who was terified of balloons. I guess I am still alone in my little lonely "I despise balloons" club.
Love ya,
Jen
Jen,
You are tooooooo funny! YES I am terrified of balloons and when I read your post I was like "shoot, I should have put that one!!!!"
Came from having an older sister who would hide behind corners and when I came around would shout and pop balloons in front of me. I HATE THEM!
